Bill Lawrence leads the philanthropy, community, and entrepreneurship initiatives, in addition to having a variety of other leadership responsibilities within 42 North Partners.
Bill is also Chairman of Superior Pine Products Company, a land, timber, and agriculture business which owns and actively manages timberland in Georgia and Alabama. Superior supplies wood to the U.S. and European markets and also grows and sells blueberries primarily for the U.S. fresh market. He has also served as a board member for several other companies.
Bill was the Managing Partner of Varnum LLP until 2008, when his family's business matters called. For 16 years Bill held a series of senior leadership roles for this law firm based in Grand Rapids. He also practiced business law for many years during which, among other things, he advised clients on initial and secondary public stock offerings and international and domestic business transactions.
An active community volunteer, Bill has served many non-profit boards and groups over the years, having acted as chair of several. A graduate of Miami University and Notre Dame Law School, Bill has been married to Karen Lawrence since 1982 and is the father of Katie, Patrick, and Maggie.
